The Ottawa Senators are a professional ice hockey team based in Ottawa, Ontario. They compete in the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference of the NHL and play their home games at the 18,572-seat Canadian Tire Centre, which opened in 1996.

The Senators were originally founded in 1883 as the Ottawa Hockey Club and later became the “Senators” in 1925. Throughout their history, they have won eleven Stanley Cups, ranking among the most successful teams in NHL history. Their most recent appearance in the Stanley Cup Final was in 2007, where they fell to the Anaheim Ducks. In 2017, they reached the Eastern Conference Finals but lost a hard-fought seven-game series to the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The team is currently owned by Eugene Melnyk (since 2003) and is valued at $445 million. Guy Boucher serves as head coach, with Pierre Dorion as general manager. The Senators have a historic rivalry with the Toronto Maple Leafs, considered one of the most intense rivalries in professional sports.

The team is undergoing a rebuild, with promising young stars such as Brady Tkachuk and Thomas Chabot leading the way. While a Stanley Cup win may be a few years away, the future looks bright for Ottawa fans.
